2 Chronicles 12

2 Chronicles 12

Rehoboam and all Judah abandon the law of the Lord five years after their kingdom was established. In response, Shishak, king of Egypt, invades Judah with an enormous army of twelve hundred chariots. The prophet Shemaiah confronts Rehoboam and the princes, declaring that God has abandoned them because they abandoned Him. Rehoboam and the leaders humble themselves, confessing, "The Lord is righteous." God shows mercy and promises not to completely destroy them, but allows Shishak to plunder the treasures of the Temple and the palace, subjecting Judah to Egypt.
