2 Chronicles 21

2 Chronicles 21

Jehoram, Jehoshaphat’s son, takes the throne and immediately murders all his brothers to secure his power. He reigns wickedly, following the evil ways of the house of Ahab, whom he had married into. Because of his wickedness, Edom revolts and successfully gains independence from Judah. The prophet Elijah sends Jehoram a written warning, prophesying that God will strike him with a severe plague. Jehoram is struck with a fatal, painful disease of the bowels and dies after eight years of a terrible reign, unmourned by the people.
