2 Chronicles 23

2 Chronicles 23

Jehoiada the priest bravely initiates a plan to restore the Davidic line. He gathers the commanders, Levites, and heads of families and reveals the hidden young prince Joash. Jehoiada has Joash crowned and anointed king in the Temple. When the wicked Queen Athaliah rushes to the Temple and shouts "Treason!" she is quickly seized and executed outside the temple area. Jehoiada then leads the people and the new king in a renewal of the covenant with God, destroying the altar of Baal and restoring true Temple worship.
