2 Chronicles 24

King Joash begins his long reign righteously under the faithful guidance of the priest Jehoiada. Joash resolves to repair the long-neglected Temple of the Lord. He establishes a system where offerings placed in a chest are used entirely for repairing the structure. After the good priest Jehoiada dies, Joash falls under the influence of evil advisors, leading to severe apostasy. Joash even has Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada, stoned to death for prophesying against the nation. God sends judgment through the Arameans, and Joash is later assassinated by his own servants.
