2 Chronicles 25

2 Chronicles 25

Amaziah, Joash’s son, begins his reign righteously but fails to remain wholeheartedly faithful. Before fighting the Edomites, he hires 100,000 soldiers from the Northern Kingdom of Israel. A man of God warns him that God is not with Israel and to dismiss the soldiers. Amaziah obeys, trusting God, and successfully defeats the Edomites. However, his pride and subsequent worship of the Edomite idols lead him to challenge the King of Israel to battle. Israel defeats him, tears down the walls of Jerusalem, and plunders the city. Amaziah is later assassinated.
