2 Chronicles 26

2 Chronicles 26

Uzziah (also called Azariah) becomes king and rules righteously, seeking the Lord. God blesses him with great success; he defeats the Philistines and Ammonites and builds up Jerusalem’s fortifications. He develops a large, powerful, well-equipped army and invents advanced military equipment. However, Uzziah’s pride becomes his downfall. He attempts to perform the sacred task of burning incense in the Temple, which was reserved only for the priests. The priests rebuke him, but Uzziah grows angry and is instantly struck with leprosy, forcing him to live in isolation until his death.
