2 Chronicles 33

2 Chronicles 33

Manasseh, Hezekiah’s son, reigns for fifty-five years, becoming the most wicked king in Judah’s history. He rebuilds the pagan high places, restores Baal worship, sets up an Asherah pole in the Temple itself, and engages in child sacrifice. God allows the Assyrians to capture Manasseh and take him away in chains to Babylon. In captivity, Manasseh humbles himself and seeks the Lord. God restores him to his throne, and Manasseh spends the rest of his life tearing down the idols he built and strengthening Judah's defenses.
