2 Chronicles 34

2 Chronicles 34

Josiah becomes king of Judah at age eight and rules righteously, following the example of his ancestor David. In his twelfth year, Josiah begins a massive purge of idols throughout the land. In his eighteenth year, during the Temple restoration, the priest Hilkiah discovers the Book of the Law. When the Law is read to Josiah, he is devastated and tears his robes. Josiah consults the prophetess Huldah, who confirms God’s severe judgment on Judah, but promises Josiah will die in peace because of his humble repentance.
