2 Chronicles 3

2 Chronicles 3

This chapter describes the building of the Temple in Jerusalem, located on Mount Moriah, the place where God had appeared to David (and historically, the site where Abraham offered Isaac). The detailed dimensions of the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place are given. It describes the decorative work inside, which was overlaid with gold, and the large cherubim (winged angels) that spanned the breadth of the Most Holy Place. The chapter concludes with a description of the two bronze pillars, Jachin and Boaz, placed at the entrance.

Hosea 7

God describes Israel's rampant idolatry as a hot oven. The leaders are condemned for their drunken feasts and political alliances with foreign nations (Egypt and Assyria) instead of trusting God.

Hosea 8

God condemns Israel for breaking the covenant and setting up kings and idols without God's approval. God warns that the enemy will come against them like an eagle for sowing the wind and reaping the whirlwind.
