2 Timothy 2

2 Timothy 2

Paul commands Timothy to entrust the gospel to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others—a four-generation chain of discipleship. Paul uses several powerful analogies to illustrate endurance: the soldier who focuses only on his duties, the athlete who follows the rules, and the farmer who works hard to receive the harvest. Paul instructs Timothy to handle the word of truth correctly and flee from youthful lusts, instead pursuing righteousness, faith, love, and peace.
