Amos 3

Amos 3

The Lord reasons with Israel, asking why they continue to live carelessly. Amos stresses that their special relationship with God means they will be judged more strictly for their sins. He compares God's warnings to a lion roaring—when God speaks, disaster is coming, and His prophets must speak out. Amos specifically targets the wealthy elites of Samaria who live in luxury and oppress the poor. God promises that these strongholds of luxury will be destroyed, and only a small remnant will survive the coming judgment.
