Amos 4

Amos delivers a vivid and sarcastic critique aimed at the complacent, wealthy women of Samaria, whom he sarcastically calls "cows of Bashan." He condemns them for pressuring their husbands to exploit the poor to maintain their extravagant lifestyles. Amos reminds Israel of God’s previous, unheeded disciplinary acts, including famine, drought, plague, and war. Despite these warnings, Israel refused to repent or return to God. Amos closes with a sobering warning: "Prepare to meet your God."
