Daniel 5

Daniel 5

King Belshazzar holds a great feast and arrogantly drinks wine from the sacred gold vessels looted from the Temple in Jerusalem. Suddenly, a man's hand appears and writes a mysterious message on the wall. The terrified king calls Daniel to interpret the writing. Daniel first rebukes the king for his pride and lack of humility. Daniel reads the inscription: "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin." Daniel interprets this as: God has numbered the king's kingdom, he has been weighed in the balance and found wanting, and his kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians. That same night, Belshazzar is killed.
