Daniel 6

Daniel 6

Under the new Persian king, Darius the Mede, Daniel is appointed as one of the three governors over the whole kingdom. The other officials grow jealous and conspire against him. They convince Darius to sign a law forbidding anyone to petition any god or man except the King for thirty days. Daniel, knowing the decree, continues his lifelong custom of praying three times a day toward Jerusalem. Daniel is immediately thrown into the den of lions. God sends an angel to shut the lions' mouths, and Daniel is miraculously saved. Darius praises God and issues a new decree establishing the God of Daniel throughout the kingdom.
