Jeremiah 26

Jeremiah 26

This chapter records the powerful fallout of Jeremiah repeating his Temple Sermon from chapter 7. Jeremiah warns that the Temple will be destroyed unless the people change their ways. As a result, the priests, prophets, and people seize Jeremiah and demand his death. Jeremiah defends himself, stating that he is speaking the word of the Lord, and if they kill him, they will bring innocent blood upon themselves. The elders remind the people of the prophet Micah, who prophesied similar doom but was not killed. Jeremiah is spared by the intervention of Ahikam.
