Jeremiah 27

Jeremiah 27

God commands Jeremiah to make yokes and put them on his neck, sending word to all the surrounding kings. The yoke symbolizes submission to Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, whom God calls His servant. God warns that any nation or king who refuses to put their neck under the yoke of Babylon will be punished with the sword, famine, and pestilence. Jeremiah specifically warns King Zedekiah and the priests not to listen to the false prophets who tell them not to serve Babylon.
