Jeremiah 41

Jeremiah 41

The brief period of peace and submission is violently shattered. Ishmael, a man of royal descent, conspires with ten men and murders Gedaliah, the Babylonian-appointed governor. Ishmael also slaughters the Babylonian and Jewish men with Gedaliah and throws their bodies into a cistern. Ishmael then captures the remaining people and attempts to take them to Ammon. Johanan and the other captains pursue Ishmael, rescue the captives, and recover the people.
