Lamentations 3

Lamentations 3

This chapter is a deeply personal and difficult reflection on suffering, often called the prophet’s lament. The prophet describes himself as the man who has seen affliction under the rod of God’s wrath. Yet, in the midst of his deepest despair, the prophet remembers the steadfast love of the Lord: "The Lord's mercies never cease; they are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness." The prophet concludes that it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord and to bear the yoke of affliction in one’s youth.
