Psalms 66

Psalms 66

A universal hymn of exuberant praise commanding all the earth to shout joyfully to God. The nations are commanded to sing the glory of God's name and declare His marvelous deeds. The people recall God's great deliverance in the past, specifically when God turned the sea into dry land (Exodus) and they passed through the flood on foot. The Psalmist then recounts his own personal experience, promising to pay his vows and offering praise because God did not reject his prayer or withhold His steadfast love.
