King Ahab ignores the truthful warning of the prophet Micaiah and allies with King Jehoshaphat to attack the Syrians. Ahab disguises himself but is killed by a random arrow, fulfilling prophecy.

King Ahaziah of Israel is injured and consults the pagan god Baal-Zebub. Elijah confronts the king's messengers. God sends fire from heaven to consume two companies of soldiers sent to arrest Elijah.

Elijah is taken to heaven in a chariot of fire. Elijah's disciple, Elisha, asks for a double portion of Elijah's spirit and proves his calling by dividing the Jordan River with Elijah's cloak.

The kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom ally to fight Moab. They run out of water in the desert. Elisha prophesies that God will miraculously fill the valley with water, saving the army.

Elisha performs several miracles: he miraculously supplies oil for a widow to pay her debt, raises the Shunammite woman's son from the dead, and purifies a deadly stew.

Naaman, the Syrian army commander, is cured of leprosy by dipping seven times in the Jordan River, as commanded by Elisha. Naaman converts to worship the God of Israel.

Elisha performs several miracles, including floating a lost ax head from the river. When the Syrian army surrounds Elisha, God opens his servant's eyes to see a mountain full of fiery chariots.

The Syrian army lays a devastating siege to Samaria. Food prices soar to astronomical levels. Elisha prophesies that by the next day, food will be plentiful, which miraculously occurs when the Syrians flee.

Elisha warns the Shunammite woman of a seven-year famine, saving her. He travels to Syria, where he prophesies that Hazael will murder the king and take over the throne.

Elisha sends a prophet to anoint Jehu as king of Israel. Jehu violently fulfills God's judgment by slaughtering King Joram and the wicked Queen Jezebel, whose body is devoured by dogs.

Jehu consolidates his power by slaughtering all of Ahab's descendants and all the priests and worshippers of Baal, thus purging Israel of the wickedness introduced by Ahab and Jezebel.

The wicked Queen Athaliah (Ahab’s daughter) murders all the royal heirs in Judah except for Joash, who is hidden by the priests. Athaliah is killed, and Joash is anointed king.
