Solomon offers a long, profound dedication prayer in front of the assembled people, asking God to hear their prayers when they turn toward the Temple, especially in times of exile.

King Asa of Judah leads a massive spiritual reformation, destroying pagan altars and commanding the people to seek God. God grants Judah a miraculous victory over the vast Ethiopian army.

The prophet Azariah urges King Asa and Judah to renew their commitment to God. They celebrate a covenant renewal ceremony, purging the land of remaining idols.

King Asa foolishly relies on a treaty with the King of Syria instead of trusting God. The prophet Hanani rebukes him, and King Asa dies of a foot disease after ignoring God's word.

King Jehoshaphat strengthens Judah, sends teachers throughout the land to teach the Law of the Lord, and is greatly blessed by God with wealth and military power.
