God encourages Zion, the barren woman, to sing. God promises to multiply her children and calls her husband, the Lord, the Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

God issues a generous invitation: "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters." Seek the Lord while He may be found. God promises that His Word will not return empty.

God promises that His house will be called a house of prayer for all nations, confirming salvation for foreigners and eunuchs who hold fast to His covenant.

God condemns the idolatry and immorality of the wicked leaders. God promises to revive the spirit of the humble but warns that the wicked are like the restless sea.

God challenges Israel's empty fasting and feigned humility. God requires true worship: caring for the poor, clothing the naked, and removing oppression, promising them light and healing.

Israel confesses that their sins have separated them from God. God is astonished that there is no one to intervene, so His own arm brings salvation and vengeance.

A glorious prophecy of Zion's future light and glory. Nations will stream to Jerusalem, bringing their wealth, and God Himself will be Israel's everlasting light.

The Messiah proclaims His mission: "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me... to proclaim good news to the poor" and bind up the brokenhearted (quoted by Jesus in Luke 4).

God promises that Jerusalem will be given a new name and will be called "Hephzibah" (My delight is in her). God will never again let the enemy consume their harvests.

The prophet sees the Lord returning from Edom, His garments stained with blood, having trampled the winepress of His wrath against the nations. The prophet laments Israel's sinful past.

A prayer of deep repentance, asking God to rend the heavens and come down. The prophet admits that all their righteous acts are like filthy rags before God.

God reveals His anger against Israel’s stubborn idolatry. He then reveals the final, glorious prophecy of the New Heavens and the New Earth, where the wolf and the lamb feed together.
