Psalms
The Book of Psalms is the primary worship book of the Bible, a collection of 150 sacred songs, prayers, and poems written by various authors, primarily King David. These songs express the full range of human emotion: joy, praise, gratitude, sorrow, anger, doubt, and hope. The Psalms are traditionally grouped into five books, covering different types of worship: psalms of praise, laments, royal psalms, wisdom psalms, and historical psalms. They served as the ancient Jewish hymn book and continue to be a central resource for worship, meditation, and spiritual guidance for both Jews and Christians, teaching believers how to communicate openly and honestly with God in every circumstance of life.
A meditation on the eternal promise of the Davidic Covenant. The psalm moves from celebrating God’s faithfulness to questioning His apparent rejection of the King.
Moses's prayer, reflecting on human frailty and the brevity of life. Moses asks God to teach them wisdom and satisfy them with His love in their short days.
A powerful declaration of security and trust in God's protection. The psalm promises deliverance from terror and disease for those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High.
A psalm for the Sabbath. It celebrates God’s mighty deeds and justice, promising that the righteous will flourish like palm trees in the courts of God.
